Passage

Passage, the opposite of closeness,
is an early trait of mine

A cautious step and a stop
eavesdropping, hand on mouth
laughter, or tears running down my knuckles
even pure terror
and Father, a snowfall in a bell jar

Gentle waves within fear
fear like a ball of yarn, coarse gray
rolling wherever it pleases
